Drake launches MoreLife Growth Company

The award-winning rapper and OVO Sounds founder joined with Canadian giants Canopy Growth to launch cannabis company.

OVERWHELMING SUCCESS

The story of ‘Drizzy’ has been one of overwhelming success, starting in teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation in the 2000s, before leaving to follow a career in music. Three mix albums later, his debut studio album Thank Me Later debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 in 2010. He is now one of the top-selling rappers in the world.

CANOPY GROWTH

Formerly known as Tweed Marijuana, in 2019 Ontario based Canopy Growth became the world’s largest cannabis company. It’s been a bumpy ride though, including a merger with Bedrocan Canada and some major management reshuffles.

Canopy are no strangers to partnerships and already work with some of the best known figures in public entertainment. These include Martha Stewart, Snoop Dogg, Gene Simmons and actors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

A NEW DEAL FOR DRAKE

The MoreLife brand was previously a wholly owned subsidiary of Canopy Growth. And according to the company, Health Canada have already licensed it for the cultivation, processing and sale of cannabis.

It’s no surprise that Canopy Life picked Drake as their new celebrity endorsement. What makes this move extraordinary, is that Drake owns 60% of the company, whilst Canopy Growth have just 40%. Basically, Drake is in command.

According to Mark Zekulin, CEO of Canopy Growth Corporation, “Drake’s perspective as a cultural leader and entrepreneur, combined with Canopy Growth’s breadth of cannabis knowledge, will allow our new company bring an unmatched experience of cannabis to global markets.”

Drake’s comment? “The opportunity to partner with a world-class company like Canopy Growth on a global scale is really exciting.” Adding, “The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever growing has been inspiring. More Life and More Blessing.”

WHAT DOES MORELIFE GROWTH DO?

According to the press release, MoreLife will be “centered around wellness, discovery, and overall personal growth with the hope of facilitating connections and shared experiences across the globe.”

What will they sell? “cannabis and herbal products, herbal extracts, herbal teas, rolling papers, dried plants, and other products and clothing”. Canopy Growth will run the day-to-day operations of the MoreLife facility. They will also retain all rights to distribute the product cultivated at the facility.

DRAKE’S PORTFOLIO

MoreLife Growth Co. is Drake’s third intoxicant brand, following his “Decadent” Virginia Black Whiskey and Mod Sélection Champagne.

Little more is known about MoreLife Growth as yet, but what is sure is that with Drake at the helm, it will be an overwhelming success. We wait with bated breath!
