Mike Tyson, former undisputed heavyweight champion and full-time cannabis entrepreneur, has been giving interviews about his 400 acre “Cannabis Resort” in California. As well as luxury accommodation, the resort includes an amphitheatre with a capacity of 10,000 people for concerts and festivals; nightclubs; bars; restaurants; spas; golf courses; hiking trails and other outdoor activities. Tyson Holistic Holdings

Mike Tyson’s foray into cannabis started in 2016 with the launch of Tyson Holistic Holdings. Now rebranded as Tyson’s Ranch it sells its own brand of cannabis flowers as well as classic strains such as Purple Urkle and Do-Si-Dos, plus extracts, and its own TL branded edibles on the Tyson 2.0 website

Mike Tyson on CBD

Tyson has been an outspoken advocate of CBD

“CBD has brought me a lot of relief,” Tyson said in an interview with Men’s Health. “It doesn’t make you high, but it takes the edge off.”

Tyson added that he believes CBD can be helpful for people who are struggling with mental health issues like anxiety and depression. “I think it should be available for everybody,” he said.

Tyson Ranch plans

Now, he ‘s taking things even further with this extraordinary cannabis resort on the Tyson Ranch site. The plans for the resort, which is currently under construction, are impressive. They include a hotel, the world’s longest lazy river ride, and the festival site for an annual cannabis and music festival. It will also feature a research facility, and the Tyson University which will teach cannabis growing techniques to aspiring farmers.

Kind Music Festival

Tyson Ranch Kind Festival

Although the site is not yet fully open, it already hosts the annual KIND music festival. Created by Mike Tyson, and businessman Rob Hickman, it features a variety of musical genres including hip hop, rock, and electronic dance music.

The first KIND music festival took place in 2018, and featured performances from Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, and Lil Wayne, among others. The event was a success, and drew a crowd of over 20,000 people.

Tyson Ranch partner Rob Hickman says that the event is about more than just music. “It’s really about Mike Tyson and what he represents, which is kind of an unapologetic approach to life,” Hickman told Rolling Stone. “He wants to put on a festival that’s reflective of that.”

Tyson himself has said that he wants the festival to be a place where people can come together and have a good time, regardless of their background or beliefs. “I want this to be a place where people can come together and just enjoy themselves,” Tyson said in an interview with Billboard.

Celebrities and CBD

Of course , Mike Tyson is not the first sports person to move into this world.  Athletes have been using cannabis for years, far before it was legalised. Great for soothing aching muscles and improving mental health and sleep, it also helps speed recovery after the many painful operations professional athletes can endure. From Larry Bird ‘Kush’,  the famous toking basketball star who had a strain named after him, to Cliff Robertson, former NBA star turned “Mr Spliffy”, Al Harrington who founded Viola Extracts and Saracens Locks George Kruis and Dominic Day with fourfivecbd in the UK, it sure seems to be a profitable career path to take when sporting retirement beckons.

As with his boxing career however, it seems the aim of Mike Tyson’s million dollar cannabis empire is world domination. We watch and wait!
